The City of Hackensack is excited to announce the award of two significant grants totaling $85,000 that will enhance public works operations, improve community safety, and support the reliability of essential city services.
$40,000 Match Funding Grant – Public Works Vehicle Upgrade
Hackensack has received a $40,000 Match Funding Grant to purchase a much-needed Public Works vehicle. This new unit will replace an aging and increasingly unreliable vehicle that required frequent repairs and contributed to downtime.
With this upgrade, the Public Works Department will be better equipped to maintain efficient and high-quality city services, including:

$45,000 Community Impact Funding Grant – Safety & Infrastructure Enhancements
The City has also received a $45,000 Community Impact Funding Grant from Sourcewell to bolster local safety and infrastructure resiliency.
With this grant, the City will:

Install new security camera systems at City Hall

Upgrade existing camera systems at the Community Building, Chamber Building, and Municipal Bar

Add a controlled door access system at the Community Center

Install cellular power loss monitoring equipment at lift stations and grinder pumps to support rapid response during outages
